LncRNA AATBC is over-expressed in bladder cancer (1), associated with tumor development and aggressiveness. AATBC depletion leads to an obvious inhibitory effect on the cellular growth of bladder cancer, and inhibits tumor growth in NOD/SCID mice. Knockdown of AATBC leads to an increased expression of p18 but a decreased expression of cyclin D1, CDK4, and phosphorylated retinoblastoma (Rb). It can also result in the intrinsic apoptosis of bladder cancer cells by the enhanced cleavages of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), caspase-9 and caspase-3. It can also enhance the phosphorylation level of JNK in bladder cancer cells and decrease the expression level of NRF2.
