Description

LncRNA ATB plays a dual role in cancers. ATB is higher in breast cancer (1), gastric cancer (2), glioma (3), hepatocellular carcinoma (4), colon cancer (5), renal cell carcinoma (6) and prostate carcinoma (7), but lower in pancreatic cancer (8). ATB expression is associated with clinicopathological parameters such as vascular invasion, lymph node metastasis, grades and prognosis etc. (2, 3, 4, 8, 7, 6). Functionally, ATB regulates cancer cell proliferation, migration, metastasis, invasion, apoptosis and EMT (2, 3, 6). Mechanistically, ATB can regulate EMT by binding to miR-200 family members (2, 3, 4) and regulate EMT markers expression level, for instance, ZEB1, ZEB2, E-cadherin, ZO-1(7), N-cadherin and vimentin (2, 4). ATB can also regulate cell proliferation viaTGF-β1, cyclin E and cyclin D1 (7). Moreover, ATB can regulate cell apoptosis via caspase-3 and caspase-9. Besides, ATB is also associated with chemotherapy resistance, it accounts for the trastuzumab resistance and high invasiveness of trastuzumab resistance (TR) SKBR-3 cells (1).
