Description

LncRNA RMEL3 expression is increased in melanoma and subcutaneous tumors compared to primary tumors. RMEL3 expression is also significantly increased in melanomas with a BRAFV600E mutation compared to those with a wild type BRAF or triple wild type for BRAF/RAS/NF1. Reverse phase protein array (RPPA) analysis finds that RMEL3 knockdown reduces cell cycle regulators (like pRB and Cyclin-B1) and anti-apoptotic proteins (like Bcl2), but increases p27 and some pro-apoptotic proteins as the example of caspase-8 and p38 (1).
