MALAT1 is a well-studied long non-coding RNA. It acts as an oncogene in multiple cancers. It is higher in glioma，tongue cancer, oral squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, hepatic carcinoma, multiple myeloma, gallbladder cancer, osteosarcoma, pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cell carcinoma, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer. MALAT1 expression level is associated with clinicopathological parameters such as tumor size, TNM stage, vascular invasion, lymph node metastasis, prognosis. Functionally, MALAT1 regulates cancer cell proliferation, migration, metastasis, invasion, apoptosis and EMT. At molecular level, MALAT1 can bind plenty of miRNAs. Moreover, it can modulate factors involving with cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, invasion, EMT and angiogenesis. Besides, it participates in hormonotherapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy for resistance.
